How the Lifetime mortgage works About you
You must be aged 55 or over.
Maximum of two applicants.
You will have to prove your age, for example with a birth certificate or pension book.
You will have to prove that you own your home (your solicitor will do this for you).
We will allow joint borrowers to hold the property as joint tenants or tenants in common, though we will not allow any other forms of trust to have any interest in the property. How the property is held between borrowers is a matter that you should discuss with your solicitor.
You are not eligible for a Lifetime mortgage if you have granted power of attorney over your affairs.
If you are married or living as partners then both of you must live at the property, be registered owners and the Lifetime mortgage must be completed in both your names.
Think carefully before securing other debts against your home. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
